Ambler Law Offices has experience representing new and existing Federal Firearm Licensees (FFLS) in complex matters involving criminal and regulatory matters involving the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). Our lead attorney is co-author of a comprehensive guide book for FFLs and we work closely with industry experts (including other firearm attorneys and former ATF employees) to provide you the most up-to-date and best information possible.
For existing FFLs we highly encourage you to contact us to discuss a review of best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the continued viability of your business. We find that action beats reaction, and a pre-emptive approach by FFLs is often the best way to stay compliant and catch procedures that could eventually lead to warnings or criminal violations.
We also have experience helping FFLs that have received a warning letter or other adverse action (including revocation hearings) from the ATF. If you find yourself in this position, you cannot delay. Your business is your livelihood, and we understand that. Once the ATF has issued a warning letter, or taken other adverse action against your business, you must act immediately to preserve your license. The experienced professionals at Ambler Law Offices can help you evaluate the case against you and either rectify the issues or fight the allegations depending on which action is most appropriate.
If you are considering starting a gun store or other firearms-related business, we can help you! We have shepherded those applying for their first FFL through the process, including helping them: determine which licenses were most appropriate for the type of business they intended to open, preparing them for the initial inspection, guiding them through state license procedures, and preparing SOPs for their new business. This type of preparation can go a long way to ensuring that the business you intend to start and run is properly licensed and operates legally.
